Hello there! My name is Mackenzie Hietala and this is my second year at the Stillwater Bridge Transition Program. Last year I was volunteering at two job sites which in turn, I gained experience from those jobs that helped me land a part time job as a dishwasher at a small restaurant near my house. My goals for this year before graduating is learning more about budgeting, getting my drivers license and explore career opportunities to broaden my horizons. My favorite class is Personal Finance because that class helps me be more financially aware. The teacher in that class is really helpful and very informative about the subject. This 2nd semester I have been given the task of managing our programs Play-Doh Production for the ECFC. We make the play-doh from scratch and fill orders for the classrooms that need the supplies in the district.
Last year, I joined SkillsUSA through the Transition Program and have gotten to know what it's like to join a social club. It taught me how important planning and teamwork is to make a successful chapter work. I anticipate graduating but there are still somethings I don't know about the real world that I want to know before being independent, if I learn those things now it will put me at an adventure in the future.
Keep up the good work MacKenzie!
