Stillwater Lights Up The Lift Bridge

Stillwater is trying to help local businesses this holiday season.

The city will be lighting up downtown Main Street and, for the first time, the historic Stillwater Lift Bridge.

"We've got Christmas lights and decorations from one end of town to the other," Stillwater Mayor Ted Kozlowski said. "It's going to look like Santa's village up here."

The city plans on having all the lights on by Dec. 5.

John & Anna's Year

John & Anna are second year students here at the Transition Program. They are currently living in Oakdale and accessing transportation through Transit Link public transportation services.  John & Anna both have had previous job experiences through our program.  John completed internship at Papa John's and worked a paid job at McDonalds.  Anna worked at a paid position for a McDonalds for 6 months  and completed a job experience at Hopple Popple Bakery.

Both students participate in Financial Literacy,  FACS Cooking and Independent Living classes. John & Anna are accessing home living services through Washington County and Life Works.  John stated "I like the fact that I can still attend the classes and learn Life Skills as well as have the rest of the day to work in the community"  Anna stated  " I would still like to have more assistance to meet my learning goals before I graduate from the program".  Both students are happy for the Transition Program to be a part of their busy schedules and moving on to their independent adult lives.

THANK YOU For The Support

We would like to take this opportunity to THANK Country Sun Farms of Lake Elmo for the generous donation of pumpkins for our craft activity in Art class.  Fun was had by all and we appreciate your community support of our program!  Thank you to the owners and management at Country Sun Farms!  ~Transition Staff

Bridge Transition Program Back To Distance Learning Until Tuesday Oct.20th

While the overall numbers of confirmed COVID cases across the district have been low, we have had to move our first group of students into distance learning to slow the spread of the virus.

Over the past week our Bridge Transition Program, located at Oak Park, has seen an increase in student and staff illness and also had one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19. The Transition program serves a small number of 18 to 21 year old students, many of whom are considered high-risk for infection. As a safety precaution they'll move into distance learning from Monday, Oct. 5, 2020 through Tuesday, Oct. 20.

As the school year continues we’ll do our best to keep the community informed on what is happening related to COVID in our district. We’re currently working with local and state health experts to develop a consistent and valid way to share COVID case rates and quarantine data from our schools. Watch for that information to be shared soon.
